WWE Extreme Rules 2009 is an upcoming professional wrestling PPV event produced by WWE, which will slated for June 7, 2009 at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. 2009 WWE Extreme Rules Matches

Randy Orton vs. Batista in a  Steel Cage match for the WWE Championship.

The fued for WWE Championship between Randy Orton and Batista never quite settled at Judgment Day 2009 as Orton lost his match against Batista by getting himself intentionally disqualified for hitting the referee and thus retained the WWE Championship. As a result, Vickie Guerrero, had decided that Orton would face Batista in a steel cage match at Extreme Rules 2009, once again defending his WWE Championship Title.

The Big Show vs. John Cena in a Submission match

At WWE Backlash 2009, Big Show interfered in John Cena’s Last Man Standing match against Edge and chokeslammed him though a spotlight, causing Cena to lose the match and the World Heavyweight Championship to Edge. John Cena had his revenge at Judgment Day 2009. Then, on the May 18 episode of Raw, it was announced Big Show would have a rematch with Cena at Extreme Rules in a submission match, which can only be won by a wrestler forcing their opponent to submit.

Edge vs Jeff Hardy in a Ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship.

WWE Champion Edge retained his championship against Jeff Hardy at Judgment Day 2009. Theodore Long, the SmackDown general manager, announced on the May 22 episode of SmackDown that, due to Matt Hardy’s interference in the title match at Judgment Day, Jeff Hardy would get a rematch (Ladder Match) against Edge

Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho in a No Holds Barred match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

CM Punk vs. Umaga in a Samoan Strap match.

Umaga continued to attack CM Punk even after defeating him at Judgment Day 2009. On May 22 episode of SmackDown he interfered in CM Punk’s match against Chris Jericho by assaulting Punk with a leather strap, and issuing a challenge to Punk for what he called a Samoan strap match at Extreme Rules.

Christian vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. Jack Swagger in a Triple Threat match for the ECW Championship

On the May 26 episode of ECW, Swagger announced that Christian would be defending the championship against him again at Extreme Rules, but the ECW general manager, Tiffany stated that Dreamer had been added to the match, making it a triple threat hardcore match, a match with no disqualifications or countouts, and the first man to score a pinfall or submission would win.
